Working, snowing, sneezing

Well, the snow is still on the ground just a tiny bit. We are supposed to get hail today. I thought it only hailed when it is hot?! It is still just 35 here in GA. Who knows?

I have been working so many hours lately at the vet and I am so tired. I need some time at home when I don't feel worn out. I have got to get the garden ready for spring. My lilies are beginning to come up. I hope they don't get hurt with all of this crazy weather.

I have had such a cold lately and can't stop sneezing. Anyone know of a good herbal remedy for sneezing?

I lost one of my foster kittens yesterday to feline leukemia. She had been adopted back in December and was returned to me very sick Saturday. We had to euthanize her at work yesterday. I am so broken hearted but angry at the same time. I am angry that the girl that adopted her did nothing about her being sick until she was beyond the point of being able to help at all. Granted, leukemia in a cat is a death sentence but I could've kept her around a little longer. She was a doll, a baby named Cassie.

Here she is:

There is weird white stuff falling from the sky

I seem to remember this stuff called snow, I think it may be falling from the sky. There is also ice. I am hoping that we get up in the morning to serious snow, not just mess. Luckily for me, it is way worse down in Conyers where I work than it is here at my house. I don't have to be at work tomorrow though until noon anyway so it may not affect me at all. I hope we get enough snow that Adelaide can go out and play in it. I bet that would be a hoot!

Well, I'm going to go back to my window now and watch the white stuff fall

Whee Doggie!!!

The weather man said the "S" word! We won't get it but I can still get excited. It is chilly, not chilly enough but chilly still. At least I know why my fibro is so bad. We just don't have winter in Georgia anymore. We haven't had a good snow since 1993. I have an almost 14 year old son that has never seen a good snow. How sad!

Yesterday I worked on my Farmgirl Sisterhood patch. It is looking good. I will post a pic when I am totally done.

I have to finish my whimsy jar today to send it out to my swap partner. I can't wait to get mine.

I am working on my fun box to send it. This is going to be so much fun. I have some really cute items to start it off with. I can't wait to get it back in the end and that will be MONTHS from now.

I am off to get some crafts done now and to help Hannah with her English.

GA clay, big trucks, and rednecks OH MY!!

Well, Saturday day night we took Hannah to Monster Jam for her birthday! It was a blast except for all of the drunk college kids. When we left there, we went over to the Varsity for chili dogs, onion rings, and of course frosted oranges. We had a ball!!

Sunday I worked cat adoptions at Petsmart. A kitten got adopted with an adult cat. It was really great because the kitten was totally black and they have the hardest time getting adopted. After adoptions, my wonderful friend, Lori, threw a surprise Sweet 16 party for Hannah. We had a blast there. She had chicken nuggets, hashbrown casserole, jack and coke baked beans, salad, and strawberry daquiri cake. It was all so good.

I was supposed to work today but had to call in. My fibro isn't setting well with all that I did this weekend. I didn't get much sleep last night, am very achy and nauseated. I am off the next 2 days so that will give me time to rest up a bit.

I am going to go back and snuggle up with Adelaide and a warm cup of coffee now. See you tomorrow!

I didn't get diddlysquat done today!

My fibro decided to flare up horribly and I actually fell asleep on all of the laundry I was folding on my bed. Hubby came home and woke me up. I felt like such a slug! Now, I am sitting here with the teeninies on my chest sleeping . Kittens always make me feel better. The pain is the worst in my legs and shoulders. I don't think I have hurt this bad in a very very long time. The tree is still up, maybe tomorrow. I have to bake a red velvet cake to take to the staff meeting tomorrow for Hannah's birthday. I guess that will happen in the morning. We don't have to be there until noon. If my insomnia is bad tonight like it usually is during a flare, I am going to try to get some of my sewing done for my swaps. My hands actually aren't hurting this time so I plan to take advantage of that. I will get pics up on here of the teeninies when I can. They are just way too precious.

My dh is coming home today

David has been "in the woods" since Saturday morning and should be home tonight. Unfortunately, he isn't bring home a deer. He did find me some nice old stoneware and his Granny's old cast iron skillet while staying at her house. She has been gone for years now and the house just sits except when he uses it to stay in for hunting. I would so love that property. The house was built by his grandfather over 60 years ago and is on 280 acres. His family is money hungry though and is selling it to the highest bidder which won't be us.

I am still trying to recoup from the holidays and need to take the tree down today. I also need to start preparing the garden for spring. I am off of work today, have a staff meeting tomorrow, work 12 hours Wednesday, am off Thursday for Hannah's birthday, and work 12 hours Friday. I think I am the one in charge of cat adoptions at PetsMart on Saturday. What a week!!!

I am currently hosting a funbox swap over at MaryJane's farm site and need to start making my items for it. I am also in a whimsy jar swap and have it almost completed. I just love swapping. When that box comes in the mail it feels like Christmas morning all over again!!

Well, I am sitting here surrounded by laundry to put away so let me get busy. I have to go hang 2 loads of sheets on the line and put my quilts in the wash. It is supposed to be around 70 here in Atlanta today so I am trying to get it all done.

My first post

Well, I am going to attempt this blog thing. I have never been very good at keeping a diary so lets see how this goes. For those of you who don't know me, I am Denise, a 36 year old homeschooling mom of three and wife to my best friend David. I am a farmgirl at heart and soul! I live on a tiny farm in the middle of downtown Atlanta. I have chickens, a small garden, a flower garden, herb beds, cats, dogs, birds, and I know this is crazy but we have 3 pet rats! I work part time for a local vet and volunteer with a cat shelter. David and I have a dream of someday owning lots of land and having a big farm. I love to sew and scrapbook but gardening is really my favorite hobby. Well, I guess this is enough for now. It at least gives you a little look into who I am. I love to cook so I will be posting recipes on here so check back often!
